International Trade Amicus: August 2013

Labour standards and its effect on international trade is the topic of discussion this August 2013 issue of International Trade Amicus. According to the article, protection of domestic industry from unfair competition is fine but importance of mutual or collaborative growth shall not be underestimated. In WTO, while automobiles were at the centre stage with Russia’s recycling fees and Ukraine’s safeguard duty on automobiles disputed at various forums, talks to enhance the Information Technology Agreement have been suspended. WTO has published its World Trade Report 2013. Elsewhere, EU and China have managed to avert a possible trade war and European Court has held that its authorities can continue with the anti-dumping duty review proceedings even after withdrawal of support from part of domestic industry. All these developments are discussed in this issue of International Trade Amicus.
