Abir Royis a Joint Partner in Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (L&S) and a senior member of the competition law practice at L&S.
Abir has represented clients before the Competition Commission of India (CCI), Competition Appellate Tribunal (COMPAT) and the High Court on competition law related matters. He has advised clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters, including merger control matters. Abir has represented and advised clients on competition law since the time the Competition Act was notified in India. He has rich experience in handling complex issues such as pricing related conduct such as margin squeeze and predatory pricing, essential facilities and the interplay between competition law and intellectual property rights. He also conducts periodic training to clients on their business operations from a competition law perspective.
Abir has represented and advised clients on competition law across various industry segments including aviation, automobile, stock exchange, entertainment, government procurement, liquor, consumer goods, chemicals, textile, radio taxi among others.
Abir is also the author of the leading commentary on Indian competition law titled “Competition Law in India”. Abir is one of the very few authors in India whose book has gone into the second edition. Abir is the sole contributor from India on the Kluwer Competition Law blog where he contributes periodically on the developments in competition law in India. Abir regularly speaks at conferences and seminars. Abir also writes frequently in leading financial dailies and other media.
