Dr. Gokul Kishore provides litigation services as a Team Leader of the Central Excise Litigation Group of Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, New Delhi. This group is engaged in drafting of appeals, replies to show cause notices, applications and petitions to be filed in courts and quasi-judicial fora / authorities like CESTAT, Settlement Commission, Advance Rulings Authority, Commissioner (Appeals) and adjudicating authorities under the Central Board of Excise & Customs. Representational services are provided by this group by way of appearance and arguing on behalf of clients before courts and other bodies.
Before moving to Litigation Group, Dr. Gokul Kishore was part of teams providing consulting services and compliance review services in New Delhi office of Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan. His advisory assignments covered Central Excise, Service Tax and Customs laws besides allied statutory provisions. As member of the Tax Compliance Review (TCR) Group, he has conducted on-site review of various industries and provided reports on opportunities, risks and strategies for optimising compliance and maximising benefits. He has advised clients across several sectors including metals, FMCG, engineering and electronic goods.
Dr. Gokul Kishore has more than 20 years of experience in working with Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax laws. He was part of the Central Excise Department for twelve years and edited leading journals and books on Central Excise and Service Tax for five years.
Dr. Gokul Kishore has published more than 75 articles in various journals and leading websites covering issues relating to tax policy, tax jurisprudence, validity of certain statutory provisions, GST, Cenvat Credit Rules, Point of Taxation Rules and Service Tax Rules. He regularly writes on agenda for Budget and also post-Budget articles. He was instrumental in running a weekly column in a leading law journal for five years.
Dr. Gokul Kishore has implemented knowledge management and capacity building projects in Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan besides leading teams in organizing seminars, training programmes and conferences.
