Sundar is a Joint Partner at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan. He is a senior member of the Competition & Regulatory Practice. He advises and represents clients before the Competition Commission of India, Competition Appellate Tribunal, High Courts in Competition Law Matters.
Sundar also represents clients in commercial litigation matters before Courts and various forums. He has appeared for clients inter alia in the Supreme Court of India, Madras High Court, Calcutta High Court, Delhi High Court, Karnataka High Court, Andhra Pradesh High Court, Gauhati High Court, Airport Economic Regulatory Authority Appellate Tribunal, Monopoly and Restrictive Trade Practice Commission, Appellate Tribunal for Foreign Exchange, Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal, Securities Appellate Tribunal, Appellate Tribunal under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Employees Provident Fund Appellate Tribunal, National Green Tribunal, Appellate Authority under the Air and Water Pollution Acts & Pollution Control Board, Debt Recovery Tribunal, SEBI, Ad-Hoc Arbitral Tribunals, Government Arbitrators, State Electricity Regulation Commissions, Directorate of Enforcement, Financial Intelligence Unit, Reserve Bank of India and Plant Variety Patent Registrar. He was also part of the team from Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan representing the Government of India in the WTO (Dispute No DS436: United States — Countervailing Measures on Certain Hot-Rolled Carbon Steel Flat Products from India).
In addition to advising clients on Competition & Regulatory laws, Sundar has advised and represented national and multinational clients on a wide variety of areas including Arbitration, Antidumping, Aviation law, Banking Laws, Company and Corporate laws, Contract law, Drugs and Cosmetics Laws & DPCO, Electricity Law, Environmental laws (including E-Waste), Family Arrangement & Settlements, Foreign Exchange Management Laws (including Foreign Direct Investment and Overseas Direct Investment), Government Contracting & Tenders, Information Technology & Telecom laws, Insolvency laws, Legal Metrology and Packaged Commodities, Labour Laws, NDPS Act, Stamp Duty, Tax Laws and other regulatory issues to name a few. Sundar has also advised and assisted clients on negotiations in resolving and settling disputes.
Sundar has also contributed articles on a number of relevant issues on Competition Law, Arbitration, Constitutional law, Corporate Governance etc in nationally reputed journals and in Concurrences, a leading international competition law database. Sundar also speaks at various seminars and was recently a speaker at the 3rd ASSOCHAM National Conference on Competition Law on the issue of Resale Price Maintenance in May 2015.
Sundar is a double gold medalist from National Law University Jodhpur and also holds a LL.M. with Merit in Corporate and Commercial Laws from the London School of Economics & Political Science. He has also represented India in the International Rounds of the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington DC.
