Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed top 200 centrally licensed Food business operators to submit a fresh plan on recall management and also provide details of the Recall Management team.

A recall plan helps companies in handling food recalls in smooth, effective and efficient manner. Food recalls are regulated under Food Safety and Standards (Food Recall Procedure) Regulations, 2017.
The recent move to seek fresh recall plan can be seen as an opportunity for the industry to update their recall plan with their existing business practices. The focus seems to be on development of robust recall plan and sufficiency of the recall management team.
