Amar advises and represents clients on legal issues in tax law, white collar crimes, corporate laws, foreign exchange laws and other incidental economic laws. Amar has a specific expertise in searches and seizures across various laws, including other intrusive actions led by statutory authorities. He specializes in handling cases involving multiple enforcement authorities and disputes spanning across various legal forums. He has handled various high-profile cases involving substantial questions in law and facts and having nationwide repercussions.
He has worked with clients from a wide range of industries including technology and e-commerce. His work in the area of technology has extended to legal and regulatory issues in the online domain such as online gaming, cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, fintech, e-commerce, besides others.
The other sectors that Amar works extensively for are banking and financial services, manufacturing, media, telecom, mining, sports and gaming, and investment.
Amar is a regular speaker at various conferences, seminars, corporate meetings, and government events/academies including the Indian Law Institute, the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur, and the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics, Faridabad & Mumbai, besides speaking at other colleges and schools.
Amar has earlier served with the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in the assessment, investigation and headquarters wings.
Prior to IRS, Amar was the co-founder of a software company based out of Delhi.

Amar has been awarded seven gold medals by the then Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee and by the Former President of India, Late Sh. Abdul Kalam, for outstanding performance in the IRS and public service. Amar also set up the knowledge management system (KMS) for Directorate General of Training in the Income-tax Department, which was inaugurated by the Chairperson, CBDT in 2013.
Being a technologist and entrepreneur in his earlier stint, Amar won several international business plan competitions between 2004-05, including I2I at IIM Calcutta, and Eureka! at IIT Bombay, and has been ranked the 2nd best computer programmer in Asia Pacific by the prestigious Association of Computer Machinery (ACM), USA, in 2003.
