The PDP Bill seeks to protect the rights of a ‘Data Principal’. In the Bill a ‘Data Principal’ is defined as the natural person to whom the personal data relates. Further, the coverage of the PDP Bill, akin to the GDPR in EU, is expansive enough to cover all data of a data principal which has been collected, disclosed, shared or otherwise processed within the territory of India.
